Theme Day: A view from my room

No, it's not my room! (See Menton Daily Photo for that). This was taken from the balcony of good friends in Monte Carlo who live over the Start/Finish line of the Monaco Grand Prix. He is a well-known retired British racing driver and lives out his retirement years in the perfect place.

  1. Aha, so Monaco got preferential treatment with earlier posting! Great picture, that's a wealthy view if I can say it that way!

  9. Nathalie, Monte Carlo got preferential treatment over Menton cos I had the photo ready. I had to quickly take the Menton photo this afternoon! It's called not being prepared.

Isabella, I think the gentleman might be just a tad too old for you as I see your taste runs to George Clooney - ME TOO!

Hmmm, Jilly, got me guessing who this old friend might be now.

    Johnnie Herbert?
    Damon Hill?
    Innes Ireland?
    Eddie Irvine?
    Martin Brundle?
    Derek Warwick?
    Mark Blundell?
    Jackie Stewart?
    John Watson?

    Nice view though!

None of those - go back further in time...

  12. Sorry, of course it couldn't be Innes Ireland, he passed away a few months after I last met him in 1993.

    Stirling Moss?
    John Surtees?
    Johnny Dumfries?
    Peter Gethin?

Might not be an ex F1 driver, might be a rally star.

    Paddy Hopkirk?

    Or a sports car driver

    Derek Bell?

I give up (It's obviously the wonderful Roy Salvadori, gosh he must be about 85 now!)

well done, you got it on your last go - it's Roy and Sue's apartment. I used to look after their dog and since then we've been good friends. I bought Roy's car (a normal car!) about 10 years ago and have just sold it on, aged 16. Yes, he's well into his eighties now but very sprightly and as good looking and charming as ever.

He's probably still hosting parties for current and retired drivers each season too!

Wow, your friend must have been a very successful race car driver to be able to retire with this view. Please tell your friend thank you for sharing the view ... When all of us in the Daily Photo community show up at your Menton doorstep maybe we can visit your fiends as well (big smile).

  16. Jilly, I'm in love with that swimming pool with hardly anyone in it? Think after we've finished the champagne cocktails (see Menton), you could wangle us a dip????

  17. Isabella - shame on you! (though it now appears Mr Clooney might be coming available?)

  18. Jilly, Jilly - have you leanrned nothing from Anna Nicole? ;-)

  20. Are you joking? What of all is yours?

  21. Sally, so far as I know, anyone can swim in the pool.

Fernando, None of this is mine! As I said in the posting, I live in Menton and good friends have an apartment with this view. Simple as that.

Denton, yes, I'll introduce you! A pleasure.
