This is taken from the pedestrian street, Rue Princesse Caroline, in the port area. The steps (plus escalator) lead up to some narrow streets with little restaurants and eventually, to Monte Carlo's market in Places d'Armes.

I remember this and specily the bucket hanging flowers and I was think why they added escalator caused It's not very high or long stairs like in Lisboa,They do need escalator beside the steps.
There are a lot of older people in Monaco and of course the Principality is built on many different levels,so it's usual to find either escalators or lifts from one level to another. Actually, not just older people. If you are carrying shopping up and down steps and many are far steeper than this, an escalator is v welcome.
Do you know, I nearly wrote about that. Should have done! Thanks for the reminder, Beetle.
Monte Carlo appears to be very well planned. This stairway is beautiful.
Thanks jilly I knew what is for but somehow my opinion is lift more efficient caused it can function for the disable people too like most we have in Cologne
Thanks for visited my site and I always enjoy visit yours
Monte Carlo looks so perfectly manicured! Like something out of a story book. Thanks for sharing this photo, Jilly.
For me the steps please, my kids i think would go for the escalator (more interesting). This is a neat photo.
And, the escalator does not detract at all from the overall loveliness of the surroundings. The steps are a rich colour and remind me of adobe.
I would be using the escalator after a long day of sight seeing. :-)
