These five pink motorbikes stopped me in my tracks. Then I noticed the name on the bikes was the same as the shop, but the shop is an upmarket dress boutique. So what do they do with the bikes? You buy a dress and get a bike thrown in free?
I entered the shop and asked the question. The answer: 'So people come in and ask that question and then look at our clothes!' Pushed further, the guy told me that the area outside his shop is a bike park area and they didn't want any old bikes there, so they bought these 5 bikes, had them painted pink and there they are. Is this good publicity or an absurd way to spend money? What do you think?
This shop is just along from Flashman's Pub and across the road from the Casino Gardens.

I think it's a great way to capture the eye of the possible clientele or curious. See? All around the worl people are now aware of the store. And a great way to keep ugly bikes away.
My first reaction was: it must be an awareness campaign for brest cancer.
Then I thought that as it is Monaco, it could be Albert's girlfriends on a shopping spree. ;)
Pretty pink scooters I might say, real cute. I found many American rides scooter now in most big cities around States lately.
Well it does seem absurd on the one hand, but you have to admit, it's great advertising. Got you in there! Did you look at the clothes though - the golden question?
The scooters are so pretty, i'd love one.
what a absolutely ingenious idea! customers come in who might not otherwise. the sidewalk in front of the store remains presentable. Love the strategy and love the execution.
I wonder if the employees are allowed to ride the scooters? Would be a shame if they aren't. On the one hand, I think it's a great ploy to attract customers, but I also think it's pretty elitist statement since they don't want the bikes of riff-raffs parked in front. But then again, are there riff-raffs in Monte Carlo?
I honestly agree with vendors: they capture attention and probably it doesn't cost more than a new neon sign and some tax you have to pay to put and enlight it. But the questions are: when they close the shop where do they put motorbikes? What do they do when it rains? Do they clean motos regularly cleaning the shop? Don't they pay anything to lock there 5 motos in a public space?
Uhmm better a new sign :-)
I'm assuming it's not a 30 minute zone...
Pink = so cute!
It's a great idea! I visited the store while on a business trip in February 2008. The interior design is exceptional and the staff is super friendly.
Good luck to them in the continuation and great blog post!
