All the fun of the fair, a return to childhood: toffee apples, beignets, lollypops. The smell of deep-frying. Is it tacky or is it fun? Somehow one thinks of Monaco as always offering the best of everything - perhaps a fair like this doesn't live up to that reputation but it draws children and fun-loving adults from all over. The Fair will run in the main port -
le port Hercule - until the 19th November.
Tacky AND fun, which is much better! But we can discuss the tackiness really: I'd say it is a visually charming place, with lovely colors and a well thought design to bring childhood memories in a tasteful manner.
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at the sandwiches frites: in the North of France they call those mitraillettes, which we Belgians, masters of the frites, have to mock of course. And I just have to perpetuate this in your blog. ;)
For some reason I love these kinds of fairs. We don't have these here and my only memories of them are the few I've been to abroad.
ReplyDeleteThey can be such chaotic fun! :)
All the sugar coated candies add to the energy and fun. I mean where else do you buy cotton candy/barbes du papa - did I spell that right?!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great store. Tacky is in the eye of the beholder anyway. What does Les Gourmands mean? greedy sandwiches? or does it mean for a big appetite?
