This plant with amazing seeds is just outside the circus tent - to be exact, outside the toilets. I think it's a female cycas revoluta but am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
I stepped onto the grass to take this photograph and got told off by an official.
'I'm only taking a photograph,' I said.
'Well you are not allowed on the grass' he said.
'Dogs go onto the grass,' I said.
'Well they are dogs,' he said...
Okay, okay, so dogs can't read.

About 20 years ago an exotic scale started to kill the C. revoluta in Florida. I can't remember when I last saw one. I remember it when I was a youngster. The cone and seeds are fantastic. I have never seen a picture of the plant better then yours. Thank you for posting your illegally gotten picture. Oh! if it has seeds I guess it must be a female.
What an exotic plant! Very interesting it is.
Re: Dogs on grass. . . .I surprised they allow dogs on the grass. In some places here, there are signs forbidding dogs, too, because of the acid in their urine. . . .and because some people don't pick up the solid waste of their dogs.
Also, thanks for your comments about Decker. He's a great dog. It pains me greatly that he's 12, although he is in great shape. The female is almost 13, and I note that she's a little slower. I'm happy to be home with them. Saturday, my son and his dog celebrate their birthday. I'm going to post something to them, too.
My tree is a Ficus. I am not sure which one, but it has big leaves and not used as a houseplant. Two blocks south the trees are more normal and haven't been chopped as much as these. I posted them Monday, April 23, 2007. Look at the difference.
Next time give your camera to a dog, and send the dog in for a close up.
Neat plant, and great photo, I've never seen or heard of it before.
This is amazing shot of an unusual plant!
The last time I saw something like THAT it was on Carmen Miranda's head!
What a sight - I've never seen anything like it before. Its leaves look like a palm. Does it sit directly on the ground?
That is truly amazing! Love that shade of coral, too.
I'm with Wendy - next time strap a camera on Beau's bum and let him work for his supper ;-)
Whoops, I explained that badly. Dogs are not allowed on the grass - quite right. My point was they go on it anyway as they can't read the sign and no official tells them off as they did me. I was trying to be funny and it backfired!
lol:) Jilly strikes again with yet another illegal photo! :-D I love it!
I can't remember ever seeing or even hearing of this plant so I'm glad you broke the rules and took a picture of it.
