The Great Monte Carlo Swimming Pool Quiz
If you are a Monaco Grand Prix fan, you'll know the swimming pool by the main port of Monte Carlo. A few days ago it was being filled (as you can see in these photographs) - ready for the season - ready for the visitors - ready for Sally from Sydney Daily Photo who will be swimming in it when she visits in June. So the question is - how long does it take to fill this pool? First correct answer gets a postcard from Monte Carlo. Results: Monday.
And the winner is: Thanks so much to everyone for the guesses. Well, it should come as no surprise that the winner is someone who knows about swimming pools, indeed has a blog about swimming pools. Of course, it's Sally from Sydney Daily Photo who guessed it exactly. I was told it took between 5 and 6 hours to fill and Sally guessed 5.5 hours. I have to say, had I not seen the many jets filling the pool and the rate at which it was filling, like many others, I'd have guessed days rather than hours. Some of you took this into account but guessed slightly below the correct time. Postcard will soon be on its way to you, Sally, and the pool is now ready for you and your family in June!

My wild guess is 7 hours. I think they fill it during the working day so that's why this guess.
Beautiful pool and a extraordinary background. Here that kind of swimming pools fill it by night, my guess is at least 12 hours. Cheers!
I'm going to say 37 hours.
That's how long it will take me to get there.
Then you can hand deliver my prize !!
I'm about to catch a plane !!! Can you make sure the water est chaud SVP, Jilly
A week.
Love the photos!
Seems to be huge. The colors and the photography are nice.
I managed to post about my hospitalization adventures. Hope you get to read it.
Abraham Lincoln in Brookville, Ohio
Oooh, yes, can't wait!
Well, it looks 50m in length, but is narrower than a standard Olympic pool....
I spose it depends on what kind of filling mechanism is employed. By the look of it, there's not a flinky standing ther ewith a garden hose.
Now I've blathered on, I'll guess 5.5 hours.
Very beautiful pool! Wonderful background, too!
I have no idea....
Jilly, thanks for your comment today. Somehow I've missed visiting your blogs and it's nice to be reminded to come back.
That pool takes longer than my bath tub to fill and that would be my only reference point. So, that's my answer. Which of course is obviously an accurate (if imprecise) and true answer. Therefore I am the first with a correct answer. LOL
Seeing these photos today, I realize how many places I want to visit ... and how short time and money are. (sigh) ~Chuck
Oh, beautiful pool...I will have to guess 48 hours...just cause it sounds good.
I have no idea, but I'm gonna guess 'cause I'd like a postcard...18 hours!
Lucky Sally! Great perspective on that bottom shot.
I'll guess 24 hours.
Jilly, I love the photos of Monte Carlo, the sun always seems to shine there, as for filling the swimming pool, I have no idea, but I will guess a short time as there seems to be lots of water rushing in so how about 2.5 hours. Have a good week-end.
Looks like the summer season has begun! I will guess 4 hours.
Beautiful pool and very nice pictures. I would guess 36 hours to fill the pool.
Hmmm, it is a huge pool. Over here it took about a few hours to fill a small pool. I would said two days to fill this pool. :)
Monday is such a long time to wait. Hope it is filled and has SUN beating down on it warming that water for me ;-)
CRIKEY,
It's Monday in Australia, I'm standing by the letter box.
And, I'm packing my bags too, - for September.
Sally, dear, you are so excited, you forgot to cast your vote.
No vote; no swim ! Just joking !
Oh how I envy Sally! :)
My guess is 4-5 hours
My guess, based on that no expense would be spared for the filling mechanism, and with all those jets, would be about 20 minutes.
M Benaut, I think you're so excited about packing your bags you forgot to read the fact that I am so excited I posted 2 comments! the first with a guess.
Bet it's warmer in Sep than June....
Ooh Jilly, I really don't know. Hmmm ... it takes about 5 minutes to fill the bathtub ... I'll say 12 hours but I suspect that it might be a lot less.
It is a beautiful pool and the water looks so clean and fresh. Love all those bubbles.
Well, I'm flabbergasted, astounded and gobsmacked! Just cos I swim in 'em doesn't mean I know a THING about filling them! it was a completely wild guess (based on looking at those jets).
But it will make my swim even more special, that's for sure.
Well congrats indeed to sally :)
