This was taken at the time the Grand Prix was being set up - hence those temporary barriers. It's 8.00 in the morning - that's Cap Martin in the background and beyond it, Italy.

Hmmm ... a Monaco policeman. I think I'm in love. If he were facing the camera I doubt I would be able to compose myself. I believe there is a requirement in Monte Carlo that you must be smokin' hot handsome to even apply for the position.
WOW, A bloke doesn't think about such matters Laurie, but I guess you would be darn tootin' correct.
I've totally forgotten what I was going to say about his thoughts now.
Perhaps he was wishing he was in South Dakota ?
Perhaps he dropped a glove onto the water below, and wonders, How will I ever retrieve that? Where is it floating off to? Will it be found and returned to me by a beautiful blonde maiden from South Dakota? Will the Major Gendarme sack me before I have my chance?
Fabulous photo. Very pensive stance by the guard. I love the hills in the distance, like the background of a painting. You're an amazing photographer, Jilly.
