A view of the Casino (in fact the back of it - ie the Opera House) taken from the far side of Port Hercule, which is way way below. This shot shows Monaco's setting in the hillside.

Ah... just looking at it makes me feel lucky!
Another beauty of a shot, Jilly.
WOW is all I can say. That is a gorgeous confection of a building.

Okay, I'm confused. Is it a casino or an opera house? Or is it used for both? It is truly a confection of a building!
Kate, it's both! We are looking at the back of the building which happens to be the section that is the Opera House. The front of the building leads into both - with the casino off to the left.
Ah! I have to move there.
Such a beautiful and ornate architecture.
I recently watched "Rear Window" starring Grace Kelly. Then I started reading up about her on Wikipedia and it said Monaco was practically broke in the 1950s. Grace Kelly's parents paid a huge dowry for her to marry the Prince.
How interesting is that?
this is a fabulous pic of the opera house and the first one i have seen. Perhaps, it's why it's beauty is so striking and mesmerizing! it's truly a work of art.
These kinds of buildings always make me think to giant cream cakes!
What a beautiful building!!!
Greetings
