Monte Carlo doesn't have a sister city - but it does have a piece of another city within the Principality. Outside the new railway station is this large piece of the Berlin Wall depicting the dove of peace. That's lovely! I saw two sections of the wall displayed in Budapest, but the art was far more graffiti-like.
Willits doesn't have a sister city yet either, but arranging a cultural exchange relationship with Monte Carlo would certainly wobble the earth a bit, don't you think?

I too am amazed that Monte Carlo hasn't got a twin but this theme day has revealed many amazing facts when I thought it might have been quite boring (and haven't visited very many as yet)

Great post. But a reason that Monaco does not have a sister city has been overlooked. You would need a sister country, not just a sister city.
Maybe San Marino would be an appropriate choice for a sister country. I've never been there, though, so this is just a guess.
Now that's interesting. Was the piece of wall a gift to the city?

In theory Monte Carlo is the city and Monaco is the country, but I take your point!
And yes, Mo it was a gift. The smaller photograph shows a tablet mentioning who gave it to Monaco.

Nice! My husband is from Berlin (the West) so I've seen what's left of the original wall. It's pretty interesting. I think they change the graffiti every so many years.

I'm sorry that I didn't get to your blog yesterday, but since Labor Day is the last day of the MN State Fair, we took our granddaughter there instead of enjoying all the Sister Cities' photos.
