Here we are, looking up the perched village of Eze from the Moyenne Corniche. In the smaller photograph we can see the tip of St. Jean Cap Ferrat jutting out to sea - this has some of the most prestigious and expensive properties on the Côte d'Azur.
Man lived in Eze village as long ago as Neolithic times (around 2,000 BC) but now it's a trendy place with two exceptional hotel/restaurants, arty shops and a beautiful exotic garden at the top. It is also well-known for its perfume factory - Fragonard - the yellow building you see on the lower right.

Hi Jilly, this blog is my new favourite - your photography is fantastic, thankyou for sharing with those of us who are far far away (in my case, Western Australia).
Cheers
How perfectly clean and wonderful! I can well imagine the demand for such a place. The factory workers must live elsewhere.
Hi Jill, you have a nice blog! I love your pictures of the mountanious places. (we live on a flat country side below sea level...) I have added you as one of my favorites :). Regards from Marcel
I just saw this a couple days ago on the Travel Channel/Samantha Brown. She stayed I think in Chateau Eze and was shown eating a delicious meal with an incredible view. I believe they said that in winter about 30 people live there.
Heavenly photos, Jilly!
Another amazing shot, Jilly. What is the garden like? I can imagine it must be perfect with all those top of the hill views.
If I won the lottery, I think this is the first flight destination I would book.
Jilly,
I am almost positive my daughter and her husband stayed here on their honeymoon. THe garden at the top has cactuses right? Is this the village that is surrounded by a wall perhaps? I will send her over to have a look at these fabulous photos today.
PS Michael is playing us a nice Nocturne today. Lovely.
A trendy, historic village — that tickled me! Must have fantastic views though!
If only I had the time, I would detour here for my coming Europe trip!
it's certainly picturesque, hats off to you for such a wonderful peek into such a pretty place on the globe!
Jill - it's very much a lived-in village so many more than 30 people live there. Perhaps that's the number who stay in the Hotel? Don't know.
Laurie, later, we'll see the garden - it's an exotic garden - ie cactus and succulents.
~Virginia, I'm leaving a reply to Melissa on yesterday's post.
Thanks so much for all the comments. So glad you are enjoying this village. Me too!
It looks lovely all spread over that hill.
Wow!! What a location for a village. I don't wonder why people have wanted to live there for so many centuries - it's breathtaking!!
