I just love the pomp and ceremony of it all, the robes and the colour.
Great how you captured the incense...it can't have been windy there for it to hang in the air.
This is an impressive gathering of clergy...must have been an important occasion. Very nice, Jilly!
I can't help but notice that the color of their vestments seem to match those of houses and buildings there. :D

How long does the fete last? It looks quite impressive! Do regular people get to enter the cathedral as well or is it just for the higher-ups?
Halcyon - this service is for invited guests only. But yes, the rest of the time anyone can go into the cathedral.
I should say, the service on the Fete Nationale day. Otherwise, the normal Mass is for anyone.
In the large picture, the second clergyman looks like one of your British hikers in Menton! But that wouldn't right, would it...
What a magnificent photo--all the ceremonial garb--wow! We don't have photo ops like this on Maui!
