These two young ladies were sitting on the steps watching the skaters, chatting and eating waffles. I snapped the smaller photograph first and then asked the girls, who live in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, if they'd pose, which they did - and with such beautiful smiles too.
As you see, it's not all 'Mediterranean diet' in the south of France and Monaco!
They are beautiful, the girls and the waffles, ha!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen waffles eaten like this before. We do have Belgium Waffles served in some restaurants for breakfast that have fun toppings, but not as snack food. I guess it would be a little like what we have here, Funnel Cakes, which are yummy! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funnel_cake
Oh I must try these waffles next time. THey look delicious! Joyeux Noël Jilly!

PS The girls are perfectly captured as well.
YUMMY. MB
ReplyDeleteHi Jilly,
ReplyDeleteI've been terribly behind on my blog visits, but just spent time catching up and enjoying your photos of the fete nationale, eze village, and the Christmas on the Port series. As always, you capture the people, the spirit and the beauty of your home so well. (Not to mention the food!)
Thank you. I enjoy your photos and text so much. Your blog is one of my favorites.
I can only apologise for cutting and pasting this comment, but there was no way on Earth I would be able to make it around the whole globe to wish everybody a Merry Christmas otherwise. I have only one pair of hands and the magical elves that I have working for me are a bunch of lazy good-for-nothings. All they do is sit around smoking, playing cards and telling filthy jokes!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, from myself, Henry and Ezra, have a Merry Christmas/Winter Solstice/Hanukkah/Festivus and a happy New Year!
I hope that all of your holiday photos turn out to be triumphs, and may your stocking be stuffed full of goodies and not coal!
Pretty girls with pretty smiles -- lovely. I've only ever eaten waffles with Vermont Maple syrup, but the whipped cream looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see there are things other than the Mediterranean diet :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays & buon natale to you
Booom! Quand notre coeur fait Booom..........oh, Monsieur Trenet.
