Circus! - the Supermarket
Part of Carrefour, the big supermarket in Fontvieille. And why show a boring image of a supermarket check-out, I hear you ask? Well, as you see it's decorated in honour of the circus festival, as were many other shops in the Principality. With so many acts from so many different countries coming to Monaco to compete for a prize, it's considered one of the most prestigious circus events in the world.

Another picture of which brings memories! Once again Jilly, you make me dream of making a trip to Monaco by these pictures. But please, don't stop ;- ) .
I don't see if the cashiers are also dressed in leopard!!!
Neat! I don't mind seeing the Carrefour. I like the idea that they dress it up for special events.
Nice to see community businesses support local events this way. Is Carrefour a large chain of super markets? The name seems familiar ... like a grocery I shopped in while staying in Paris. I certainly could be mistaken, however -:)
Same here, Pasi, even a picture of Carrefour brings back memories!
I think it's wonderful how everyone gets in the circus spirit!
I'm just admiring those leopardskin checkouts...only in Monte Carlo.
It must cost a small fortune to decorate the store for the circus, but it looks great.
Chuck, yes Carrefour is a chain of supermarkets. I really like this one in Monaco - it's always so busy, with a massive turnover, so you know the fresh food is really fresh.
It is a h-u-g-e store and beautifully decorated. It's surprising to find that you say it has a huge turnover??? In Monaco it just is surprising that so many wealthy people do their own food shopping?? Of course, no matter wealthy or not food shopping is always a fun time, especially if you have kids take a stroll to the deli isle and while the kiddies munch with nannie, we shop and they catch up with us after a bit. kids enjoy a day out with mom and mom maintains sanity because the nannie is there to help!!!
