Meet Maurice. He's the Captain of Parking at the
Hôtel de Paris in Monte Carlo - he's the one to see when you drive up in your Rolls Royce Corniche.
I asked if I could take his photograph and he immediately went into an 'I'm being photographed' mode. I took one - the smaller photograph - and showed it to him, saying, 'It's good.' 'It's for me to say if it's good,' he said and took a look. 'Take another,' he said and put on one white glove. We both laughed. I took another - and then a third.
Great guy, Maurice.
In the reflection you can see the beautiful roof of the hotel's atrium and in the small photograph, one the chandeliers.
Oh I love Maurice! What a nice man and great photos of him :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. He looks like he is enjoying himself.
ReplyDeleteThat's the job my son would love to have - how else can one drive all those luxury cars (even if it's only a few meters) without having to own them?
ReplyDeleteThat Maurice clearly has a "certain style". I'm sure that in these security conscious days the "Captain of Parking" has more to do than just park your car.
ReplyDeleteMy son once did this at a posh place on the Bodensee (Lake Constance). One day a chap slung him the keys of a Ferrari and said "take it for spin if you like"! He didn't; he just parked it. That was enough.
He put on one white glove. And he wears a uniform Do you think his sense of style has been influenced by Michael Jackson? No, I don't think so.
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome white gloved gentleman. I must catch up on things here as I am behind. Maybe I couldn't bear to see the warm temps in your photos while I was dealing with the cold here. Alas ... today it is 50 F and sunny in my life today. I'm so happy. We have turned the corner I believe and it's all warm temps from here on out. I think. I hope. xoxo.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what he would say if I turned up in a clapped out Ford Escort!
ReplyDeleteThink he might be a Star Trek fan with that hand pose?
I'm happy you took several photos of him. I do when someone is kind enough to oblige me, and then I always pick the most flattering one. You had a great subject, and thus, a great photo.
ReplyDeleteWho says the French aren't fun and accomodating for photographers!!!! I rest my case. I bet I could sweet talk Maurice into letting me into the Hôtel de Paris to nose around a bit.
ReplyDeleteV
Maurice looks really friendly and you took him at better. Do you think that he's able to manage my Aston Martin Vanquish S too? LoL.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I love that you posted both photographs - with and without the white glove...
