It's tennis, big time, in Monaco with the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters which started yesterday. Nadal has won the Masters in Monte Carlo every year since 2005 - will he win again?
The cyclist riding past is a reminder that the Tour de France comes to Monaco in early July - the first time since 1964.
Note: We have left the Jardin Exotique for a day or so only.
Good one. I also notice that it's very chilly.
ReplyDeleteYes it's cold. Supposedly nicer tomorrow but rain promised for several days after that. Let's hope the forecast is wrong.
ReplyDeleteThe Tour de France will be quite a spectacle in Monaco. I wonder if they will ride on the course of the Monaco Grand Prix. And one they leave town, they will have a lot of climbing to do, unless they take a road along the coast.
ReplyDeleteDave, the route starts in the port - in fact it looks like the Grand Prix start and it goes around the casino, then way wa into Cap d'Ail then up onto the moyenne Corniche to Roquebrune and back along the sea, passing Larvotto Beach to the beginning. That's the race against the clock I gather.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the preview of the Tour de France. That sounds like fun, for the spectators. When we visited Monaco we stayed at the Marriott at Cap d'Ail. We loved looking looking out at the boats in the harbor, and the helicopters flying in to the helipad, etc.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my site today. Sharon left a comment to yours saying that Highgate Cemetery in London was her favorite, like you, until she visited the Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires. I guess Sharon decided that she better agree with me, or we might not bring out the angel champagne glasses from Eze next time she comes over.
I didn't realize the Tour was going through Monaco this year. How exciting!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful capture, Jilly.
We will be watching tennis on TV. and wishing we were there - but not if its wet and cold, we can get that here!. Watch Andy Murray, he's in great form at the moment.
ReplyDeleteCan't say tennis means that much to me, but the poster makes a good backdrop for all sorts of street photos. I guess the next week or so isn't the best time to pay a visit.
ReplyDeleteAppears as though Lance will not be in the Race. Too bad!
ReplyDeleteThe Tour holds far more fascination for me than tennis. In the past, I had been in France several times at the end of the Tour and the excitement was wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot. HOw long did you have to wait for the cyclist? Genius!

Virginia, I was lucky. I could see the cyclist coming up the hill and just waited 30 seconds. In fact I was waiting for someone to walk past and did get a few shots but this one worked best.
