Theme Day: Shadows...in the Jardin Exotique

Fencing like this - looking as if it's made of tree branches yet in fact fashioned in concrete, is typical in the south of France and Monaco. Here, we see shadow of this fence on a walkway in the Jardin Exotique.

Today is Theme Day on CDP and the theme, of course, is Shadows. To see how over a hundred fellow-bloggers from around the world have interpreted this theme please click here to view thumbnails for all participants. You will be surprised and delighted and entranced.

  1. excellent fence. so shapely and unique, which makes for a great shadow. the fence looks like it belongs in hobbit land.

  5. How cute...I really like the shadow and would not have know the fence was not wood, had you not mentioned it.

  7. A great idea again, Jilly!
There is a public garden in Rennes and a bridge in Pont Aven where the rails are made like that and when I was a little girl, I remember to have been very disappointed when someone explained to me it was "faux bois" (Bravo Virginia!), it was like a lie!

  8. Great minds work alike. Julie also has a shadow from a fence on her Scottsdale Daily Photo today, although it was a very different type of fence. Your series on the Jardin has been great, and how fortuitous that you could get a wonderful photo for theme day at the same time as your visit.

  19. Quite common here too. But to tell you the truth, I never did like it. Give me real wood! But I can understand how these concrete fences are so much easier to maintain. Ah well.

Wonderful choice for theme day though! And I love it that you kept to your series :)
