Watching the Grand Prix: 4 - from the Hillside
Yes, you can watch the Monaco Grand Prix from the hillside if you don't mind being a little uncomfortable. This is below le Rocher. As you can see, a great view as the drivers negotiate Rascasse or pull into the Pit Lane. I thought this was a free area until Ed corrected me. Apparently it costs around 70 euros to sit here. Thanks Ed.
Once again, apologies for lack of good photographs - it was a muggy ol' day and this was taken from a great distance.

Good photos, corrent and good advice to see grand prix for nothing. And a good blog.
Jilly,
Just a thought... with the walls upon the hillside, how does one come and go?
Nice photos also, even from such a great distance.
Drew, I've never done it but looking at the smaller photo you'd walk up the road towards le Rocher and then clamber down the hill from there!
Isn't there steps/pathway to the right down onto Av du Port?
Anon, as I said I really don't know and assumed that area of hillside was entered from Ave. de la Quarantaine but it could well be from Av du Port. The latter leads to the first one anyway. You doubtless know more than me.
I think we're saying the same thing ... It's right where the 2 streets meet but I think you may be right & it's technically Av de la Quarantaine ...
Looks a little precarious to me. Wonder if anyone has got a bit too excited and fell off?
Gary's ambitions are to see the Le Mans and Monaco Grand Prix not the TT. The hazy feel is great adds to the overall atmosphere of hot sticky days.
No, not free to see the Grand Prix from there! You need a ticket which is around 70 Euros, plus another ticket if you wanna stand there for qually the day before. You're probably talking about practice day again, not the Grand Prix
Ed, I did wonder. Thanks for clarification. I'll change the copy. Thanks.
