FREE OUR BLOGGER IN IRAN!

One of our fellow bloggers is Amir in Iran (Tehran Live). Following the recent elections and after the 17th June, his blog was blocked and recently he was picked up and is now in prison. Today, the City Daily Photo Community is coming together in solidarity for our courageous friend and for freedom and democracy for the people of Iran.

FREE OUR BLOGGER!

For Updates on Amir - click on this link.

These photographs show a caged eagle by the artist Silvie Brière - this is part of an exhibition of eagles in the Casino Gardens and throughout the Principality. We'll see more after the Tour de France.

AMIR IS RELEASED!
This great news came through the night of the 28th - and he is home with his family. Oh Happy Day!

The eagle is a magnificent bird who is stunted when caged. Just so the people of Iran and the people of many other countries around the world where one group imposes a direction on another. Let the bird free: let the people free. Free to chose their own direction. Free to assemble. Free to publish. Free to dissent.

We want our blogger back. The world is watching.

Jilly, your photo today is perfect choice to support our fellow city daily photo blogger and the people of Iran who want their vote counted.

Regardless of who won the election, regardless of race or beliefs, it is heartwarming to see so many people expressing their outrage at the violence being done by their own government to the people of Iran. I truly hope the violence ends soon.

A wonderful image to express your support, Jilly.

Birds and people should never be caged. Very evocative image. Birds for me symbolize so much. It is good to see so many of us today as one voice.

A dove or an eagle are appropriate images to carry our message of peace and outrage. In addition, I am pleased that so many of us have posted today to call attention to one of our own and generally to support human rights around the globe.

Your image is a strong and beautiful one, Jilly. I feel like I'm part of that bird, just the expression says it all. Meead posted at 12:06 PDT that Amir has been released. Now may the people of Iran find their way to the rights and freedoms they so desire without the fear of being picked up on the streets and having their blogs shut down. I hope foreign journalists are allow back in again soon and that the gonzo journalists and citizen journalists keep trying and succeeding.

I'm glad for your support. I'd like to make you aware of this video. Jump to 00:27:10 if you don't like to watch the whole video. I think this is what most western countries deny but it is all connected.
