Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild

Don't know about you but I'm fed up with the endless rain here, so let's go back to days of blue skies and sunshine and visit the beautiful Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild on Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. We'll look around the villa and we'll wander the 9 gardens laid out over 7 acres - and we'll leave this cold ol' winter behind for a while.

Béatrice Ephrussi, born Rothschild, discovered Cap-Ferrat in 1905, when the Côte d'Azur was about to become the holiday destination of High Society. She owned four villas in Monaco but was seduced by the natural beauty of this nearby site and bought seventeen acres of land on the narrowest part of the peninsula, right from under the nose of King Leopold II of Belgium, who wanted to extend his neighbouring property.

More tomorrow...

Beautiful home and grounds ... and sounds like an equally good story is coming our way.

Couldn't agree more about incessant rain! Suffering in Seattle, too.

This is a totally must-to-see place next time I visit Cote d'Azur! I don't understand why I didn't visit there last time!?

Don't you mind about rain, we have had over a week -20 C and colder. This week we had three days -30 C! This is not funny!

And we're in the best part of our year, weather-wise. Relatively cool, not too humid drizzles, if ever. Won't last long, though.

Looks like I came just in time for another wonderful tour! Do I have great timing or what? ;)

It just seems too dreamy to be real! Is it real? I have to go outside and shovel snow . . . .

Endless rain hard for me to imagine! When it rains in Las Vegas it's an event, neighbors open their garage doors to watch! Myself included.

I have a photo of Julie at this Villa in my office. It is a wonderful place.

I saw snow in the photos posted today in Avignon. I presume that means there is more cold weather headed in your direction.

I'm more fed up with all the snow. This looks like a place where I could live.
