The Golden Goat

The golden goat atop the Château de la Chevre d'or. I've never noticed this sculpture before so perhaps he's new? He looks rather pristine, doesn't he?

  1. Oh my, what a wonderful view he must have!

Jilly, could you tell what material was used?

  2. Maria, I've no idea and wondered the same thing. Unfortunately the Chevre d'Or was closed so I couldn't go in and ask. One day I'll find out.

  4. I did not notice the golden goat when we were there in 2002. It looks like it climbed right up on the roof. It is a good thing that the restaurant is named for a golden goat, and is not a Black Angus restaurant.

As Julie mentioned in her comment yesterday, at dinner on Sunday night Julie said we should go back to Monaco the next time that there will be the Historic Grand Prix, which I told her would be in 2012, as we obviously cannot go this year. Sharon and Glenda both said they will definitely will do that trip.

It is appropriate that your post yesterday in which Julie advised you of our intentions was entitled "Set in Stone." I will remind Julie for the next two years that our plans for a Monaco vacation are "set in stone."

  5. That would make me do a double take! Quite appropriate though and he actually looks good up there.

  7. It's a fun photo and looks so real on the portal! A favorite restaurant of mine in Sister Bay, Door County, WI, actually has live goats on the roof of their turf roofed restuarant...a great draw for the summer tourists.

  9. He does indeed look good. What is it about goats this week? Yours must be the 4th or 5th gostpost I see lately. A goat theme week? Funny!

  11. Maybe he's one of the lonely goat herd that Julie Andrews used to sing about.
