Ignore the ladies' legs, ignore the hotel in the background - look DOWN and you will see brass plaques depicting famous footballer's footprints. If you haven't had enough of football, that is!
We are on the walkway running along the back of the Grimaldi Forum. This is the Champion Footballer's Parade. Take a look at the
Golden Foot competition - each year a different footballer is chosen to have his footprints imortalised in a brass plaque. Click on Voting 2010 to see who is up for it. I see David Beckham is on the list.
On the left - George Best's footprint.
what a funny thing to add to a bridge but i will bet many people put their feet in the football player's feet.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a bridge too. What beautiful scenery. Loved the footprints idea.
ReplyDeleteI suppose it does look like a bridge, Julie, but it's not. It's a walk that continues from Larvotto Beach and passes in front of the Grimaldi Forum. ie a walkway by the sea.
ReplyDeleteNext time I am in Monaco I will have a look at them.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool!
ReplyDeleteBut with such fantastic views from the promenade, I wonder how many visitors actually notice them.
a beautiful day in which to walk the promenade. Lovely to look at.

American's must be a different breed, we just don't get soccer.
ReplyDeleteAh, sort of like the golden boot award. Sadly, World Cup is over. I'm all but going through Futbol withdrawals. I'm really tempted to get satellite TV in order to get my soccer fix.
ReplyDeleteLuck of the Brazilian people ... We have the feet of Pele in person ...: 0)
ReplyDeleteI've actually had more than enough of football, but this is really interesting!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! No, I haven't had enough of football; I LOVED the World Cup and am sorry that it's over for another four years. The final game was a bit of a disappointment, tho. At the risk of being flamed, Spain couldn't seem to find the goal despite many attempts, and the Dutch turned out to be pretty rough and dirty players!!
