La Turbie

Let's leave the chaos of the Grand Prix for a few days and pop up to La Turbie, the charming medievale village above Monaco. La Turbie is best known for its extraordinary Trophée des Alpes, a sixth-century monument to the power of Rome but more of that another time...

So often, people think of La Turbie simply as an exit off the autoroute - the one between the Monaco and Menton exits. As you can see, it's so much more than that...

  1. This does look like a quiet and charming refuge from the glitz and glamour of Monte Carlo.

I'm looking forward to your photos of La Turbie! I was there 2 years ago, but in a hurry. I have planned to go again next time by using the 1-€-bus-ticket! ;-))

  4. Yes, this is most attractive, Jilly. Especially with the sun striking it just so. And look at that pot on the RHS. That would cost a fortune to buy, to fill with soil. And to move it would require many strong, young men. Ahha ... now there is a method in that madness, I see.
