The renovation of the cupola was completed in 2003, paid for by the proprietors of the apartments, the
Conseil General and the town of Beausoleil. In 2004 it won a special Jury Prize awarded by the Association of Historic French Houses. The gardens are cared for by student gardeners.
In 1989 the Riviera Palace was listed as a '
Monument Historique' and the price paid for living in such a beautiful building (imagine owning one of these apartments with a balcony overlooking this Winter Garden) - is that you have a regular flow of visitors on guided tours.
I think your top photo today shows the influence of Gustav Eiffel quite profoundly.
ReplyDeleteI respect and admire your views regarding eating meat left in your comment on my site today. I am conflicted about such matters. I am distressed by inhumane treatment of animals and Julie and I are donors to the Humane Society, but I am not a vegetarian, and animals victimize each other for food.
Other than having toured a chicken plant, I do not know about how animals are processed, but I have not investigated the question, either. I guess I am like Matthew Harrison Brady in "Inherit the Wind" when he is being cross-examined by Henry Drummond (Spencer Tracy in the movie) when he takes comfort in saying "I do not think about things that I do not think about."
Une très belle architecture...

What a nice series about the Riviera Palace. I didn't know it was open for visitors. I will take a look next time! Have a nice weekend!

Incredibly gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMy first visit to you! But not to Monte-Carlo, which is just a few hours away from where I live in Italy. The Riviera Palace posts are interesting, I'd had no idea what was up there. Congratulations on the wonderful photographs.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully composed.
