When Richard Nixon returned from a foreign trip and decided to dress up the White House guards in European style uniforms Americans thought it was so pretentious and un-American that they abandoned the new uniforms.

It all looks a bit 'Disneyfied'...I'm used to the guards at Buckingham Palace in London. But I do like the tradition of it all.
